Muck and Miers

Hi All!

Once I get started...

Well here's a quick shot.

Anyone who has doubted the genius of the Rove and the Bushies must now stand in awe of the brilliant tactical move having thrown this chum in the shark-infested political waters. Put the libs and their syncophants in the Media off their game. Brilliant distraction

Timing is everything. It is almost Clintonesque the way this will draw at least a bit of attention away from the Fitzgerald Report.

Now that the defense is softened up we are prepped for a Justice nominee we really want.

Cheers!

New Post

Hi All!

The title of this piece pretty much sums up how creative I have felt lately.

On Health: The colonoscopy was quite a bit more uncomfortable and lengthly than promised. The doc took 3 benign polyps so the exploration wasn't in vain. Next up in a few days will be a battery of heart and liver tests and imaging and all manner of poke and prod. Enough of that. I'm gonna try to avoid discussing my aches and pains. It's boring.

On Family: Alex be 18 on Election Day (more on that below). The time to fret about getting him into college and how to afford it has come on much too fast. Maybe I can convince Cretin to hold him back a year... Drew is cruising along Sophomorically and Catie is in her last year of "public" school, innocence intact, working hard on a speaking role in a P.C. "made for schools" play about the battle for women's rights in the garment industry at the turn of the century.

Laura Kuettel. The wife, mother, teacher and council person has an actual re-election race going on. Signs, lit drops and everything. Ah, it brings back memories of my frantic House races, except it's fun to be on the incumbent's side.

On Finances: Was able to re-fi for the third time in 4 years and got a pretty good, safe loan. Still dodging financial bullets, but all things considered, and with the considerable generosity of friends and family, we are bumping along, keeping the wolf at bay.

Bored yet?

So am I.

To top it off, the New Pornographers cancelled their 1st Ave gig for which I had bought tix 2 months ago, and now can't refund at Music Go Round, only downtown Mpls at 8pm at their box office.

As you can see, there are many distractions, and the Wog's Blog has suffered.

I promise to get back in the saddle soon, as writing this is therapeutic, whether anyone reads it or not.

Cheers!

PS. Just spoke with the mechanic. The Trooper needs $3000 in engine work. With the Scorpio sitting in the driveway waiting for a rebuilt tranny, we are suddenly short on cars!

And so it goes.

Since I'm Gonna be Up for Awhile...

Hi All!

Tomorrow is colonoscopy day. I'm sure you are all thrilled to hear about it. Just took the pill and will start drinking what looks to be at least 5 gallons of poop juice 8 oz at a time, which should keep me up well past bedtime.

I ran into the Pioneer Press top editorial recruit today on the street in downtown St Paul. Mark Yost has, I think, suffered some culture shock coming from the Wall Street Journal to office with the likes of Glenda Holste. Don't give up, Mark. Write your damned book about pro football management (a new chapter for the Vikes, perhaps?) and get back in the trenches.

Must admit that Mark caught me in a moment of naked honesty. When he remarked that he didn't know I worked downtown, I had to confess that I was only there to see my probation officer - only 18 more months to go for this menace to society.

As some may know, my dear and long-suffering wife, Laura, is a 10-year Falcon Heights City Council incumbent seeking another term. Until this year she had had to dish out $4 in filing fees to run unopposed. This time there are challengers and my old political blood has started to boil.

I was active in Republican politics at the State level as a candidate in '94 and '96. I worked my tush off and at least I can say that I made the incumbent "work" as well. But close is no cigar, as Bill Clinton might say.

Laura participated in the obligatory League of Woman Voters forum tonight.

So much I can say, and might yet, but for now let me summarize that if the debate were a blackjack game, we drew a queen and two jokers.

There is a write-in candidate with a darn good chance to make something of a bit of history. Despite one of the challengers being a stalwart Republican, I cannot forgive his negativity and associating with a true Jesse Ventura wing nut.

To get a flavor of the type of crap these jokers are spewing, check out their website:

If I get in trouble for this post, I will blame it on the pressure of having to crap liquid for the rest of the night, and I might as well write some crap that one doesn't have to clean up....

Cheers!

The Wit and Widsom of Boomer

Hi All!

I got a chuckle out of CBS football commentator Boomer Esiason

"If the Vikings don't turn things around they are gonna implode from the inside out!"

Yogi Berra, move over.

Cheers!
